<description>BIO5 Dr. Fernando Martinez accepted the position of director of the Bio5 Institute at the University of Arizona. He previously had been serving as the interim director and co-director of Bio5 since February. Martinez is a renowned researcher in childhood respiratory diseases and director of the Arizona Respiratory Center. Bio5, the most prominent research institute at the UA, brings researchers from five fields &#8212; agriculture, medicine, pharmacy, basic science and engineering &#8212; together with industry leaders to find solutions to common problems, such as diseases.
