Denmark and the U.S. Navy have formally executed a letter of offer and acceptance paving the way for the manufacture and delivery of the AIM-9X Sidewinder air-to-air missile system to the Royal Danish Air Force. The agreement was signed in June in Denmark, the fourth country to purchase the latest version of the proven AIM-9 Sidewinder missile family, Raytheon reported. The Republic of South Korea, Poland and Switzerland also agreed to purchase the missile to arm their frontline fighter aircraft. The AIM-9X is a fifth generation short-range missile that achieved initial operational capability with the U.S. Air Force in November 2003. The size for each individual contract was not released.

Leaders reach agreement

on Greyhound bus station

Tucson Mayor Bob Walkup announced last week that an agreement was reached between the mayor of South Tucson and Pima County Supervisor Ramon Valadez to move forward with a temporary relocation of the Greyhound Bus Station to begin the Fourth Avenue underpass project.

The three elected officials also agreed that a permanent location for the bus station should be somewhere in downtown Tucson.

While many locations have been considered, a site at Sixth Avenue and Tool Avenue will most likely be the final site, a move consistent with where Greyhound would like to be located.

A temporary relocation site is yet to be determined. City of Tucson staff will present options to the City Council on Aug. 2.
