A new way to play in Mexico

Gene Hildreth wants people to leave all their toys in the states when they come to play in Puerto Peņasco, or Rocky Point, because he has them all there at the Puerto Peņasco Sports Club.

“What do people usually do when they come to Rocky Point? They sit on the beach with a margarita, or they break out the jet skis, tubes, quads, dirt bikes, or whatever and play,” Hildreth said. “But often it is a hassle to bring them across the border.”

The sports club is a new type of property in Rocky Point. Fourteen old colonial Mexico designed town homes will be sold to eight owners each for under $70,000. Each owner will have six weeks every year to come down and enjoy the property.

“This way you don’t spend a half million dollars on a condo down here that you wont be at every week anyway,” he said.

The sports club will have all the toys available for owners’ use while staying in Rocky Point.

“We’ve tried to design a no hassle ownership program, where everything is just easy,” he said. “Pick up the key when you get here, drop it off when you leave. We do the clean up, we do everything. We can even stock the refrigerator before you arrive.”

Because it is an ownership model, owners have an asset that will appreciate in value and owners can sell whenever they like.

“We have complied with and met every demand of the state of Sonora so when it is sold, there is no doubt that you have total ownership,” he said.

The Puerto Penasco Sports Club just received its final permit approval from the state of Sonora in March and will be completed in 18 months. For more information on the Puerto Peņasco Sports Club, contact Hildreth by e-mail at ghildreth@wbhsi.com.
