Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities (TREO) announced last week its leadership exchange trip this year will go to Portland, Ore.
The trip will be Aug. 8 - 10. Last year, local leaders visited Austin, Texas.
Of particular interest in Portland, is the city’s successes in the areas of urban revitalization, mass transportation, cross-jurisdictional regional planning and attracting and keeping what it calls the “creative class” of 25 to 34 year-olds.
Portland is a region of over 2 million residents and regularly ranks high on “Best of” lists.
Traveling to Portland will give local leaders a chance to get a glimpse of Tucson’s potential future, said Francie Merryman, chair of the Portland Leadership Exchange Trip and a vice president with Northern Trust.
