Tucson business leaders see less confidence in economy

Going into the third quarter, Tucson area business leaders’ confidence continues to slip and now stands at exactly 50 on Compass Bank’s Arizona Business Leaders Confidence Index compiled by the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management. The 50 reading is exactly in the middle between believing the economy will improve or deteriorate in the upcoming quarter.

At the beginning of the second quarter, the Tucson index was 51.5 The index reading among business leaders in the Phoenix area was 51.2, down from 53.0 a quarter ago. And the statewide index currently is at 50.5, down 2.5 points.
