Annual gem economic event gets underway this week

When it comes to fueling the local economy, the gem event that brings sparkling results is the annual Gem, Mineral and Fossil Showcase. More than 50,000 visitors from around the world will start rolling into Tucson this week for the show that starts Feb. 2 and runs through Feb. 17.
