The Cincinnati Reds and the City of Goodyear agreed last week to enter into a 75-day exclusive negotiating agreement that could to move the Major League Baseball team’s Spring Training to a new facility it would share with the Cleveland Indians.
For Tucson, it eliminates one potential team that could replace the Chicago White Sox, who have announced their intentions to leave Tucson Electric Park, possibly as soon as next year. It also would indicate Goodyear may no longer be pursuing the Colorado Rockies, who currently Spring Training at Hi Corbett Field.
The Reds, who currently train in Sarasota, Fla., announced their intentions to leave after that city’s voters rejected approval of bonds to renovate the stadium.
