Arizona in-migration slows by 34% in 2007

Published on Friday, March 07, 2008

Arizona remains second in the amount of people moving in to the state from other states but the numbers were down 34 percent in 2007, according to U.S. Census Bureau figures reported by Arizona State University’s Blue Chip Economic Forecast.

The report, published by the JPMorgan Chase Economic Outlook Center, estimates 90,000 residents moved to Arizona from other states last year, putting it second behind the 141,000 who moved to Texas. California saw 263,000 people leave, the largest number exiting a state last year.

Arizona’s in-migration decline was attributed to people having difficulty selling homes in other states before they can move here.
