Fortune 500 has six
state firms, all in Phoenix

Arizona has six companies that made it onto this year’s Fortune 500 list - two more than last year. All are headquartered in the Phoenix area.

The biggest on the list, coming at No. 140, with nearly $18 billion in revenue last year, is Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, which acquired Phelps Dodge.

Other Arizona Fortune 500 companies:

• No. 163: electronics distributor Avnet, Phoenix, with $15 billion in revenue in 2007.

• No. 228: US Airways, Tempe, with $11.7 billion in revenue.

• No. 400: Allied Waste Industries,

Phoenix, with $6.1 billion in revenue.

• No. 477: electronics wholesaler Insight Enterprises, Tempe, with $4.8 billion revenue.

• No. 489: PetSmart, Phoenix, with $4.7 billion revenue.
