Promotions

LP&G Inc. promoted two of its employees: Mary Jo Van Gilder and Kristina Toft. Van Gilder is now LP&G’s office administrator. She has been with LP&G since 1999. Toft has been promoted to senior designer and began working with the company in 2005.

Baggin’s Gourmet Sandwiches promoted four members of its team to restaurant managers. Nancy Murphy, 6342 N. Oracle Road; Frank Ruiz, 11015 N. Oracle Road; Valerie Gradillas, 2741 E. Speedway; and Renee Johnson, 1800 E. Fort Lowell Road. Combined they have 24 years of experience with the company.

 

New Hires

Simpleview made two hires. Theresa Flemming is a new project manager for the company and Jenny Rose joined simpleview as a search engine marketing specialist. Flemming has more than six years of experience in project administration and coordination for the technology industry. She was previously a technical project manager for America OnLine. Rose has six years in media and public relations.

Thomas H. Shane joined McCaleb Construction Inc. as part of the sales team. Shane has twice been named the Southern Arizona Home Builder Alliance’s MVP in sales and customer service.

Angela Sandoval is the new business coordinator for Harry S. Lodge & Associates. She has five years in human resources and more than 10 years in customer service during which she used her bilingual skills extensively.

Beach, Fleischman & Co. expanded its tax team with the additions of Jon Bickerton, Nicole DaSilva and Lani Weinell. Bickerton comes to Beach, Fleischman & Co. with experience in the accounting field from his past positions as a general ledger accountant for VisionQuest National Ltd. DaSilva previously was a student counselor at the Sarabande Riding Academy, assisting the Academy’s staff with daily operations. Weinell rejoins Beach, Fleischman & Co., after devoting the last 10 years to raising her family and brings more than 20 years of accounting and tax preparation experience to the firm.

 

Awards, honors, and recognitions

Richard Barna, director of Green Building and Building Science, was asked to be part of a panel on Arizona Case Studies at the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project Workshop on High Performance Homes. The workshop promoted energy efficiency as part of new home building. The designs, features and costs of building high-performance homes were presented along with the incentives and utility programs available for homebuilders.

Northwest Fire Captain Dustin Schaub was honored by American Legion Post No. 7 as "Outstanding Firefighter." Schaub is receiving the merit in recognition of high ethical standards, "can do" spirit and mentoring of younger firefighters.

Laura Jestings a contract administrator and Victoria Cortinas, a principal contract officer with the City of Tucson Department of Procurement, received the first ever Manager of the Year and Buyer of the Year awards respectively. The awards were issued by the copper chapter of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing Inc. These awards recognize significant contributions to the procurement profession.

George Larsen, a commercial real estate professional, received an endowed scholarship through the Education Foundation of the CCIM Institute for ongoing service and dedication to the commercial real estate and investment industry. The endowed scholarship program was created to honor Larsen, a commercial real estate developer and principal with Larsen Baker. Larsen is engaged in acquisitions, construction, leasing, and management of a Tucson-area commercial property portfolio in excess of 2 million square feet.
