Promotions

First National Bank promoted James R. Claffee as chief executive officer. Claffee joined the First National Bank organization in 2004.

New Starts

Romeo F. Esquivel and Ayaaz Ismail, both board-certified gastroenterologists, opened a practice on the Northwest Medical Center campus. Esquivel most recently was a staff gastroenterologist at the Southern Arizona VA Healthcare Systems. Ismail was most recently an assistant professor of Clinical Medicine and the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program director at the University of Arizona. The medical practice is located at 6130 N. La Cholla Blvd., Suite 210 on the Northwest Medical Center campus. The office phone number is (520) 575-5003. They are members of the Northwest Medical Center medical staff.

Awards, honors, and recognitions

Four Lewis and Roca attorneys were named to the Southwest Super Lawyers 2008 list. The four attorneys from the Tucson office are: Rob Charles (Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights), Andrew D. Schorr (Real Estate), Lewis D. Schorr (Real Estate), and S.L. Schorr (Real Estate). Southwest Super Lawyers is a national listing of the top attorneys in each state based on practice areas.

Frank Bangs of Lewis and Roca was ranked by Chambers USA for Real Estate: Zoning and Land Use practice. Chambers USA is a Guide to America’s Leading Business Lawyers.

The National Association of Women Business Owners and Wachovia honored Dana Rambow, president and CEO of AristoCare, with the 2008 NAWBO/Wachovia Woman Business Owner of the Year award. The award recognizes the accomplishments of one outstanding woman entrepreneur, who has used creative initiatives to overcome obstacles, create jobs, grow a successful business, and help her community.

Sandra Tedlock was named to the 2008 Southwest Super Lawyers list for family law.

Varga Garland, director of the Community Food Bank’s Community Food Security Center, received the Bill Emerson Leadership Award: Field Supervisor of the Year. This award is in recognition of Garland’s work in the anti-hunger community, innovative leadership in the field and excellent mentoring of Emerson fellows over the past several years.

New Hires

Ellen Barth Alster joined The Planning Center as a landscape architect and project manager. Alster has nearly 25 years of landscape architecture experience.

The Caliber Group hired Maria DelVecchio as interactive department manager. Before joining Caliber, she worked as the creative director for LP&G, where she oversaw a team of copywriters and designers to create multi-media campaigns and websites.

Tucson Outstanding Products hired John Riesgo as the director of sales and assistant general manager. For the past eight years, Riesgo had been a sales manager at Accent Products.

Stacy Garrison joined the new homes sales staff of Pepper Viner Homes. Garrison won the SAHBA Sales Person of the Year award in 2005 and was honored in 2006 as the MVP of the Year. She was previously employed by AmericaBuilt Communities and TJ Bednar Homes.

Natalie Graham joined the Tucson Surgery Center and Center for Pain Management as the new administrative director. She has been in the healthcare industry for 11 years with a broad clinical and administrative background including quality management and nursing administration.

Appointments

Virginia L. Yrun has been named director of organizational leadership for Arizona’s Children Association. Yrun is currently executive director of the Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault, which joined the Arizona’s Children Association family of agencies in a merger that will become effective July 1.
