Casinos contribution to state falls by $2M

Revenue from Arizona’s 22 Indian casinos was down 7.5 percent for the quarter ending June 30 compared to the same three months in 2007, according to the Arizona Department of Gaming.

As a result of the drop, state revenues from the casinos totaled just over $26 million for the quarter, about $2 million less than was taken in for the second quarter of 2007.

State revenues from Indian gaming goes toward education, health and tourism programs and pays for gambling addiction assistance programs.
