Private aircraft hangars, air freight expansions OK’d

Published on Friday, August 08, 2008

In the face of the recent spate of airline announcements of reduced service, the Tucson Airport Authority agreed to move ahead on two other fronts: construction of four new hangars to handle private aircraft and to develop additional airfreight capabilities.

The authority’s board of directors unanimously agreed to approve 30-year land leases at Tucson International Airport’s Campbell-Valencia Aviation Complex, 1840 E. Valencia Road, for two T-hangars totalling 30,000 square feet to be built by Velocity Air Holdings and two 10,000 square-foot hangars to be built by Arizona Aviation Associates.

The board also approved an agreement to build a 28,000-square-foot air freight building at 2750 E. Airport Drive, adjacent to FedEx’s building.
