Officials of Tucson and Guadalajara, Jalisco, have signed a cooperative agreement to promote regional economic development between the two cities.
Some of the specifics of the agreement announced Aug. 11 call for both cities to:

• Provide office space for companies seeking to expand in each other’s region.
• Develop programs to stimulate bi-lateral business activity.
• Collaborate on technology commercialization from the University of Arizona, Autonomous University of Guadalajara and Tecnológico de Monterrey Guadalajara Campus.
• Support business growth through research parks.
• Coordinate logistics.
• Advance tourism.
• Market jointly.
The agreement was signed by representatives of Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities Inc. (TREO), Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, Metropolitan Tucson Convention and Visitors Bureau, Tucson Airport Authority, Arizona Department of Commerce and Global Advantage, a program of the UA Office of Economic Development.
Mexican representatives included MatchMex, international business consultants; Cadena Productiva de la Electronica, a partnership of Jalisco state government and information technology manufacturers; and JalTrade, a partnership of state and business interests promoting global trade.
