Incoming UA freshman numbers to top record

The University of Arizona’s fall semester started Aug. 25 with what officials anticipate is the largest incoming freshman class in the school’s history.

Official numbers are to be released this week but officials said they expect the incoming freshman class to be around 6,700 students, up from last year’s 6,569. Applications for this year increased by 1,500.

Total UA enrollment last year topped 37,200.
