Crosstown Traders catalogs include Old Pueblo Traders, Bedford Fair, Willow Ridge, Lew Magram, Brownstone Studio, Intimate Appeal, Monterey Bay Clothing Company and Coward Shoe.
Based in Beverly, Mass., Orchard Brands operates direct-to-consumer merchandise under the brand names of Appleseed’s, Blair, Draper’s & Damon’s, Gold Violin, Haband, Norm Thompson, Sahalie, Solutions, Tog Shop and WinterSilks.
Charming Shoppes, headquartered in Bensalem, Penn., had previously announced its intention to sell off its non-core businesses and focus on its women’s specialty apparel brands of Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug and Catherines.
Charming Shoppes acquired Crosstown Traders in 2005 from JP Morgan Partners, which had acquired in 2002 and renamed it from Arizona Mail Order Co. The company traces its roots back to 1950 when it was founded as Old Pueblo Traders. In 1975 developer Don Diamond and Paul Baker bought it and changed the name to Arizona Mail Order. They sold it to Fingerhut Companies in 1998.
In addition to selling off Crosstown Traders, Charming Shoppes said it reached an agreement to sell the credit card receivables of its apparel catalog business for about $40 million to Alliance Data Systems Corp. in Dallas.
