Elections

Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities Inc. elected four new representatives to its Board of Directors. Those elected are: Omar Mireles, James Pignatelli, Christopher Sheafe, and Sarah Brown Smallhouse.

The American Red Cross Southern Arizona Chapter elected new officers and board members. Officers elected include: Joe Gulotta, chairman; Charlotte Bilang, first vice chair; Tom Kinney, second vice chair; Valeene Williamson, secretary; and Rocio Galvez, treasurer. Board members elected include: Joe Britton, Les Caid, Eileen Whalen and Lynn Sagara.

The Sunnyside Foundation elected four new members to the Sunnyside Unified School District Foundation Board of Directors. Those elected are: Debra Salaiz, Elaine Valenzuela, Edwin Aguilar and Kimberly Carlson.

The Volunteer Center of Southern Arizona elected Michael Kresge and Mia Michelle Lira to its board of directors as board members.

The Greater Oro Valley Arts Council Board of Directors elected three new members to the Board of Directors for FY 08/09. Those elected are: Melanie Larson, Dale Henson and Gail Munden. The new members bring the current board to a total of 11 active members. Also, current member of the board Julio Galindo was elected the Arts Council’s new treasurer.

Awards, honors, and recognitions

Two Wells Fargo district managers completed the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado. Andrea Kearns, district manager for Wells Fargo Regional Banking in Central Tucson, and Shannon Shepherd, district manager for East Tucson, both completed the school. The school is an intensive 25-month banking school providing senior management and leadership training for community banking professionals.

Boris Kozolchyk, professor of law at the University of Arizona, was invited to inaugurate the Distinguished Academic Leaders series of programs at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Mexico.

New Hires

Cheryl Miller joined Alliance Bank of Arizona as senior vice president and operations manager for the bank. Miller joins Alliance Bank of Arizona with 30 years of banking experience, including operations and project management. Most recently, she was operations manager for Chase.

Waterfall, Economidis, Caldwell, Hanshaw & Villamana, added Jan Bernardini to its Trusts and Estates Section. Bernardini has been in private practice for 14 years in the areas of elder law, probate and trust administration, and guardianship/conservatorship law.

Shauna M. Deardorff joined the Volunteer Center of Southern Arizona as senior manager, special events. She previously served as event coordinator for Tucson Fiesta Bowl.

Timothy A. Cook is the newest staff member at Direnfeld Physical Therapy.

Promotions

Vanessa Gonzalez is the new Arizona Small Business Advocate for the Arizona Department of Commerce. For the past year, Gonzalez served as the agency’s legislative director. Previously, she served as deputy director of legislative affairs in the office of Gov. Janet Napolitano.

Brandon Sax has been promoted to Business Relationship Manager for Vantage West Credit Union. This is Brandon’s third promotion since he was first employed as a teller with Vantage West nearly five years ago.
