SCF Arizona appointed Kearin M. Kasper regional manager for Southern Arizona. Kasper came to SCF after working as a senior vice president for Marsh USA in Denver.

Mitchell H. Sokoloff, a nationally recognized expert in the treatment of prostate cancer, kidney cancer and testis cancer, is the new chief of the section of urology and professor of surgery at The University of Arizona Department of Surgery. Sokoloff comes to the UA from Oregon Health and Sciences University, where he served as chief of urologic oncology and director of the OHSU Robotic Surgery Program.
The University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management appointed Paulo Goes as head of its Department of Management Information Systems (MIS). The department has been ranked a top-five MIS program in the country by U.S.News and World Report since the inception of the rankings category in 1987. Goes comes to The University of Arizona from the University of Connecticut, where he developed a partnership with GE called edgelab, a business laboratory where University of Connecticut faculty and students work side-by-side with GE managers on strategic projects.
Elections
UniSource Energy Corporation named Louise L. Francesconi to the company’s board of directors. Francesconi, the former president of Raytheon Missile Systems, also has been named to the boards of directors of Tucson Electric Power and UniSource Energy Services, UniSource Energy’s primary subsidiaries. Francesconi served more than a decade at the helm of Raytheon Missile Systems, steering that company through record sales growth and an expansion that solidified the company’s position as Tucson’s largest employer.
Bill Carnegie, President and CEO of the Community Food Bank was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Arizona Food Banks. He will serve a one year term.

Joseph Kraft earned the certified culinary administrator designation from the American Culinary Federartion. Kraft is executive chef at Morrison Healthcare Foodservice.
Wanda F. Moore, president, Moore and Associates, was selected by the Black Board of Directors Project to receive the 2008 Lincoln J. Ragsdale Sr. Outstanding Director Award. Each year, the award is given to an individual who is eminently recognized as a leader in her field and has made significant contributions to society through service on major boards, commissions, task forces, etc. and is at the senior level of her career. She will receive the award Oct. 17.
Helen Walthier, a landscape designer with SAGE Landscape Architecture & Environmental Inc., has been nominated for the 2008 National Olmsted Scholar Award.
New Hires
Jennifer James joined the RealEstate.com, Realtors Tucson team at their Midtown office. James specializes in residential, first-time home buyers, new construction and the downtown Tucson area.
Jason Bowsher is the Tucson branch manager of Marco Crane & Rigging Co. Bowsher came from Freeport-McMoran Cooper & Gold where he was employed for around eight years, most recently as a mining planning engineer.
Regier Carr & Monroe hired Heather Julseth as a staff accountant. Prior to Regier Carr & Monroe, Julseth served as an auditor at the Defense Contract Audit Agency.
Promotions
Sarah Kennedy is now the director of wellness for Splendido. Kennedy will also direct Splendido’s Wellness Resource Center, which is coming soon. She joined Splendido in 2006 as fitness coordinator.
