Elections

The Parent Aid Child Abuse Prevention Center elected its new officers and board members. Officers elected include: Scot Thomas, president; Bruce Tennenbaum, president elect; Susan Sealey, secretary; Ernie Huber, treasurer and Harvey Bart, immediate past president. Other board of directors elected for the upcoming year include: Jackie Atkins, Jessica Bloom, Joseph Casey, Don Geisler, Gretchen Hull, Mary Keysor, Carolyn Lucz, Penny MacArthur, Tim Medcoff, Donna Northrup, Elly Robbins, Eric Scott, and Connie Teeple.

Tucson City Court Magistrate Margarita Bernal has been elected chair of the American Bar Association National Conference of Special Courts. Judge Bernal is the first Tucson City Court magistrate and the first Hispanic from Arizona elected to a position in this division. Her term is from August 2008 to August 2009.

Tucson Young Professionals Inc. elected a new Board of Directors and executive officers for its second year of operations. The new Board of Directors are: Bryan Canavan, president; Gene Chang, Jeff Ell, Ben Korn, Emily Mitchell, Kevin Moreau and Megan Pellman. The following executive officers were elected by the newly appointed Board of Directors: Rachel Neil, vice president and Erin Coulter, secretary.

Nancy K. Smith and Betty J. Villegas are new members of the Tucson Pima Arts Council Board of Directors. They were elected to three-year terms. The board also elected officers for 2008-2009 fiscal year. They include: Mary K. Davis, president; Michael F. McNulty, vice president; Brigid K.C. Murphy, secretary; Travis J. Hutchison, treasurer; Nancy Lutz, past president.

 

New Hires

GLHN Architects and Engineers Inc. hired eleven new employees to its architecture, engineering, business development and administration departments this year. New in Electrical Engineering are: Gilbert C. Brito, electrical CAD technician; Mircia Barbes, senior electrical engineer and Justin Jolly, electrical engineer in training. New in Mechanical Engineering is Michael L. Hart, senior mechanical designer. Geoffrey M. Bradmon, civil project engineer and Scott E. Eisenfeld, project manager, joined Civil Engineering. The Architecture Department added Architect Kirke W. Rice, and Architectural Designers Maria C. Ruedinger and Galina Y. Miller. Paul R. Anzalone, graphic designer, and Cassandra Martin, administrative assistant, are also new at the firm.

RealEstate.com, Realtors in Tucson welcomed two agents to its team of professionals: Dave Daniel, who specializes in the East side and Lee Katterman, who specializes in investment properties, land, new construction and luxury homes.

Debra Merigold was hired as a staff appraiser for Burke Weissenborn LLC. Merigold is a certified general real estate appraiser with five years of experience.

 

Awards, honors, and recognitions

Eight attorneys from Snell & Wilmer have been included in the 2009 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. Those listed include: Charles Giddings, trusts and estates; William Poorten, commercial litigation; Curt Reimann, banking law and real estate law; John Robertson, labor and employment law; Amy Samberg, product liability litigation; Marc Simon, real estate law; M. Roxanne Veliz, real estate law and Jeffrey Willis, bet-the-company litigation and commercial litigation.

 

Promotions

Joe Atamian is the new vice president/general manager of Comcast in Tucson. Atamian previously worked for Comcast in Denver where he was the senior director of customer care for the Denver call center.

Deanna Martin is the new chief nursing officer of Northwest Medical Center Oro Valley.

 

Appointments

The Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block appointed Richard Anderson to Trustee Emeritus status on the Board of Trustees. Anderson’s involvement with the Museum stems from the 1970s when his firm Anderson DeBartolo Pan Inc., Architecture & Engineering (then known as William Wild & Associates) designed the modern style building that currently houses the Museum Store, changing exhibition space, and administrative offices on the Museum’s downtown campus.

Tim C. Baker was appointed to the board of directors of Augusta Resource Mining Corporation. Baker brings more than 30 years of extensive project development and operations experience to the company’s board. He is currently the executive vice president and the chief operating officer of Kinross Gold Corporation.
