Could your business use a $30,000 technology makeover?

Business owners have until Friday at 5 p.m. to register for their chance to win a $30,000 Technology Makeover.


The contest is collaboration between New Horizons Learning Centers, 6377 E. Tanque Verde Road suite 200; Silverado Technologies, 655 N. Alvernon Way suite 216 and Go Web Solutions, 7670 E. Broadway. The purpose of the contest is to promote the latest technologies for business in a fun, exciting way that will get business owners to think of how technology can attract new business and help their existing business be more efficient.


The winner will receive over $30,000 worth of hardware from HP, software from Microsoft, training by Microsoft certified instructors, installation of all components, and website design and hosting services.

To compete in the Tucson Technology Makeover, contestants must be an established business or non-profit organization operating in Pima County. They must have a minimum of five PCs and a server with an internet connection.


Contestants must complete the online application and explain in 250 words or less why you feel your company needs a technology makeover. Contestants may be required to interview with the judging panel to clarify application information.


The winner of the contest will be drawn by Jack Camper, president of the Metropolitan Tucson Chamber of Commerce at noon on Sept. 25. Contestants must be present at the event, at the Manning House, 450 W. Paseo Redondo.


There is a full schedule of activities and several seminars that showcase the latest technologies by local experts including:


•  Is your web site a profit center? Simple strategies to boost online traffic, generate more leads, and close more sales.


•  Sharepoint 2007 Demo. Office SharePoint Server 2007 provides a single, integrated location where employees can efficiently find organizational resources, access corporate knowledge, make better-informed decisions. Sharepoint is a free service on Server 2003 and Server 2008.


•  Featured speaker: Steven Zylstra, president and CEO, Arizona Technology Council. Topic: "ATC’s mission and how it will help southern Arizona businesses.”
