Elections

The Foothills Sertoma Club elected its new officers and board members. The officers include: Joe Higgins, chairman of the board/ vp membership; Burke Carroll, president; Christina Frey secretary; Bob Offret, treasurer; George Couston, sergeant at arms; Dani Zaleski, vp sponsorship; Ed Lochhead, vp fundraising and Bridget Fitzgerald, vp social.

New Hires

RealEstate.com, Realtors hired Samantha Lorefice to join its Oro Valley office. Lorefice has been a licensed Realtor since 1997.  She was previously associated with Re/Max All Executives as a licensed real estate agent.

John Grimaldi joined Safelite AutoGlass as general manager for the Tucson market. He will be responsible for leading a team of 50 employees in five locations. Grimaldi began his career in the vehicle glass industry 20 years ago as a vehicle glass technician. He previously held positions at Safelite, most recently as the market manager for Houston. Grimaldi returns to the company from Diamond Glass in Las Vegas.

Manjul Srivastava joined the medical staff of Northwest Medical Center. Srivastava has a special interest in geriatrics.

Awards, honors, and recognitions

Three attorneys from Fennemore Craig were selected by their peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2009. Those attorneys are: Benjamin W. Bauer, real estate law; A. Bates Butler III, commercial litigation and white-collar criminal defense; and George Krauja, commercial litigation.

Thirteen attorneys from Lewis and Roca will be included in The Best Lawyers in America 2009. Lewis and Roca attorneys from the Tucson office to be listed in the 2009 edition include: Frank S. Bangs, Jr., land use and zoning law and real estate law; Gabriel Beckmann, corporate law; Rob M. Charles, Jr., bankruptcy and creditor-debtor rights law; John N. Lurino, commercial litigation and real estate law; Roy W. Kyle, banking law and mergers acquisitions law; Linda C. McNulty, real estate law; Michael F. McNulty, administrative law, environmental law, natural resources law and water law; Mary Beth Savel, land use and zoning law; Andrew D. Schorr, real estate law; Lewis D. Schorr, real estate law; S.L. Schorr, land use and zoning law and real estate law; Keri L. Silvyn, land use & zoning law and Celeste M. Steen, real estate law.

Promotions

Laura McFall is the manager of Urban Earth Design’s new office in Tucson. McFall joined the landscape-architecture and urban-design firm in 2004 as a landscape designer. She will oversee the company’s Southern Arizona projects.

Appointments

Patrick Kelly is the new Fire Chief of the Tucson Fire Department. Kelly has more than 30 years of experience in fire operations, emergency medical services, emergency management and fire management. For the past three years, he has served as the fire chief and emergency management coordinator for the City of DeLand, Fla.

Jeff Biggs is the new director of the Tucson Water Department.  Biggs has more than 27 years of experience in water quality, treatment and delivery. For the past seven years, he has served as the water quality administrator for Tucson Water, where he has been responsible for both drinking water and reclaimed water production and delivery.

Danielle LeCompte Zaleski is the new CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tucson. Previously, Zaleski was the past major gifts, director of donor relations for the United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona. Prior to her work with United Way, Zaleski served as executive director of the American Lung Association of Arizona.

CDEX Inc. appointed Dale T. Jahr to director of investor relations, a newly created corporate position. Previously, Jahr held senior positions in investor and public relations, marketing, business development and strategic planning with both public and private companies, and served as an economic adviser to the United States Senate.
