Target is closing store - but only for 8 months

Target is closing its store at 4040 N. Oracle Road — but this store closure is different from another retailers’ announcements. Target says it will tear down the 25-year-old store and replace it with a new SuperTarget that will be nearly 60 percent larger.

The company said it will close the existing at the end of the business day Feb. 7. The new store is planned to be open in October. The new store will include groceries and a pharmacy.

Target has seven other stores in the market: 5255 E. Broadway, 3699 E. Broadway in El Con, 6500 E. Grant Road, 9615 E. Old Spanish Trail and 1225 W. Irvington Road, in Tucson; 3901 W. Ina Road in Marana; and 10555 N. Oracle Road in Oro Valley.
