Viviane Thompson achieved the designation of Certified Forensic Accountant , by the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute. A forensic accountant is a professional who has acquired a unique expertise blending knowledge, experience, and education and applies accounting, auditing, and investigative skills to uncover financial crimes such as embezzlement, fraud, and improper business practices.
Klindt D. Breckenridge received the 2008 University of Arizona Alumni Bear Down Award. Breckenridge was nominated in part for his contributions to the physical fabric of the University of Arizona. Klindt’s architectural contributions can be seen in more than fifty facilities on the UA campus.

Sister Mary Kathleen Clark, founder of Casa de los Niños, will be inducted into the Arizona Women’s Hall of Fame this Thursday, (Nov. 13). She opened the site in 1973 with $17 in her pocket. She passed away in 2003.
Gary Andros, Commercial Real Estate Agent with Prudential Foothills Real Estate received the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation by the CCIM Institute. The CCIM designation is awarded to commercial real estate professionals upon completion of a graduate-level curriculum and attainment of a level of qualifying experience.
New Hires
Arizona Gastroenterology hired Patty Higgins to their office as a nurse practitioner. Higgins has served in the healthcare field as a registered nurse for more than 12 years. For the past eight years, Higgins worked with Arizona Oncology Associates.
Thomas Waliser a board-certified gynecologist who specializes in minimally invasive gynecological surgery, recently joined the Oro Valley office of Northwest Allied Physicians.
Appointments
Zhao Chen has been appointed director of the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at The University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. Chen is an internationally renowned scholar who serves as principal investigator on several National Institutes of Health grants. She recently made national headlines after her study, Hip Bone Density Predicts Breast Cancer Risk Independently of Gail Score, was published in Cancer, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Cancer Society.
Sunquest Information Systems, Inc appointed Richard Batch vice president of Product Development. Richard brings more than 20 years of extensive experience in product development and healthcare IT. Richard most recently served as vice president; Information Products Research and Development for Cardinal Health -Clinical Technologies and Services.
Thomas P. Kappler is the new executive director of Hundred Palms. He was formerly executive director of Amber Lights Retirement and Assisted Living and executive director of Prestige Assisted Living.
Elections
The Community Food Bank elected its executive members of its board of directors. Marco Liu has been elected chair of the board. Joining him as co-vice chairs are Michael Dorer and Fran McNeely. Rosalva Bullock will serve as secretary and Bill Young will serve as Treasurer. Sam R. Levitz was elected to the board for a three year term.
