Half can skip emissions test

Anytime governments make something easier is good news, even if it only applies to half of us at a time. As of this year, on-board diagnostic vehicle emissions tests for Tucson area motorists are required only every other year. That means half of us won’t have to do it this year. Your registration form will tell you whether this is your year off.

The new rule applies only to Tucson area emissions tests and only to vehicles with the on-board diagnostics systems — generally 1996 or newer cars.

One other change of note, emission test stations as of this year accept credit cards for the $12.25 Tucson test fee.

" Naw, I can't believe it. Goverments just don't act this way. You must have made a mistake. They probably mean we have to be inspected twice as often, and you got it backwards. "
