The award-winners will be named at an Oscars-style event Feb. 17 at the Temple of Music and Art, 330 S. Scott Ave. This is the third annual SASIE Award event. This year’s sponsor is Vantage West Credit Union.

In addition to the awards, the SASIE ceremonies Feb. 17 will surprise five finalist businesses with special awards for company culture, customer service, innovation, community and commerce.
And the Tucson Chapter of National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) will announce its 2009 Business Woman of the Year Award.
“This is an opportunity to dress up, attend a gala event celebrating a diverse group of businesses and connect with successful business people in Tucson,” said Charlie O’Dowd, senior vice president for the ASBA in Southern Arizona. “This event honors entrepreneurs in our region whose innovative approach to business deserves special recognition.”
The evening begins with a reception at 6 p.m. followed by the awards presentation starting at 7 p.m. It will also include the illusionary performances of the Magic Dance Theatre of Sarlot and Eyed.

Each application was independently judged by the panel of judges, which included: Cristie Street of Nextrio, Maricella Solis De Kester of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Steve Hart of the Small Business Administration, Gaya Zeiter of Premier Printing and Mailing, Janice Ulrich of E-las-tek representing NAWBO.
