Awards, honors, and recognitions
Susan Leigh is the recipient of the Association of Community Cancer Centers’ Annual Achievement Award. She was selected for her long-standing advocacy, dedication, and commitment to quality cancer survivorship services and education. Leigh serves as a consumer advocate at the Arizona Cancer Center. Nationally, she sits on committees at the National Cancer Institute.
James F. Morrow, a partner with Quarles & Brady LLP’s real estate practice, was named Tucson Best Lawyers Banking Lawyer of the Year for 2009. A senior member of the firm’s Real Estate Practice, Morrow focuses his practice on representing national investors and syndicates of financial institutions in the acquisition, development, rehabilitation, financing and disposition of major projects in the western United States.

Cindy Parseghian, president and founder, Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation received the first annual Patient Advocate Award from the Lysosomal Disease Network. The award was given in recognition of the tremendous strides the APMRF has made supporting research for Niemann-Pick Type C and other lysosomal diseases.
Jason Bailey of Empire High School received a $500 scholarship from First Credit Union for its "Imagine the Possibilities" College Scholarship Program. Bailey plans to study business at ASU.
The Tucson Utilities Contractors Association honored four members in its 2008 awards. The 2008 Associate Member of the Year was Matt Clark. The Agency/Municipal Member of the Year was Tom Kilargis of Pima County Department of Transportation. Daniel Keeley received the 2008 President’s Award. Steve Shepherd was honored as the Ditch Digger of the Year.
New Hires
Michael Heilman joined SPExpress as the director of business development. He will manage all aspects of SPExpress’ sales and marketing efforts. Prior to joining SPExpress, Heilman held several positions within Airborne Express’ sales organization.
Kym Adair is now the corporate marketing manager for Nova Home Loans. Adair has 10 years of experience in sales, marketing, advertising and public relations.
Elections
The Cascade Foundation of Southern Arizona elected a new board of directors. Those elected are: Daniel Lust, president; Tim Pennick, vice president; Jon Phillips, secretary; Brandon Blair, treasurer; Scott Gan; Christian Escalante; Todd Schliewen; Mary Celeste Stone; and Russell Tolander.
The Southern Arizona Architects & Engineers Marketing Association elected its board members for the 2009 fiscal year. Those elected are: Tiffany Gorrell, president; Bianca Rivera, vice president; Matt Sage, treasurer; Rich Bergsma, secretary; Lynn Jager, past president; Fred Narcaroti, programs co-chair; Doug Huie, programs co-chair; Dana Johnson, membership chair; Ginger Switzer, education chair; James Patrick, public relations chair; and Amy Bojorquez, website chair.

Promotions
LP&G Inc. promoted two of its employees. Lisette Sacks is now the creative director, directing the design team in translating marketing objectives into creative strategies across media. She joined LP&G in 2006 as a veteran designer and art director. Missy Eddy is now an account manager with LP&G. Eddy joined LP&G in 2006. Her experience encompasses healthcare, land development and product management.
New Starts
Mary Hayworth launched Southern Arizona Celebrity Promotions. Hayworth will be working with Arizona advertising agencies, shopping centers, car dealers, marketing companies, public relations companies and dozens of non-profit organizations in securing stars for free personal appearances and paid performances. She has formed an association with David Mirisch Enterprises of California who has a database of over 6,000 contacts with motion picture and television stars, Olympic gold medal winners, well known athletes and singers and recording stars.
