Wastewater dept. receives recovery money to connect two plants

Published on Friday, June 26, 2009

Pima County’s Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department was among the first in Arizona to receive federal stimulus and is using the $10 million it received to build an interconnection between its Ina Road and Roger treatment facilities.

The five miles of 72-inch pipe will help alleviate capacity issues at the older Roger Road facility by taking it northwest to the Ina Road plant. As a result the Ina Road plant will process an additional 12 million gallons per day. Construction of the project is expected to be complete by December 2010.
