Tucson has supporting role in two movies

Tucson has a supporting role in a couple of summer movie releases.

“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” which opened June 23, has scenes from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base’s aircraft storage facility and inside Tucson International Airport’s terminal. The film, starring Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf and directed by Michael Bay, shot its Tucson scenes last October.

And “Away We Go,” which opened June 26, included scenes at the JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa and Tucson Mountain Park. It stars John Krasinski, Maya Rudolph and Allison Janney. In addition to the scenery, director Sam Mendes also used numerous locally-hired extras during the shoot in June 2008.
