City gets $200,000 grant to cleanup Fort Lowell site

The City of Tucson was awarded a $200,000 Brownfields Cleanup Grant to clean up a former steel tank manufacturing company site at the southwest corner of Craycroft and Fort Lowell Roads.

The 5.5-acre site, across the street from Fort Lowell Park, has historically significant features including portions of a Hohokam settlement and the former Fort Lowell Army Post.

The cleanup, historical preservation and redevelopment of the site will mitigate potential health risks associated with the site and eliminate a blighted property from the neighborhood.
