Patty Stonesifer joined Miraval’s board of directors. Stonesifer is the chairman of the Smithsonian Institution’s Board of Regents and former CEO of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Stonesifer also serves on the board of directors for Amazon.com and was previously a senior vice president at Microsoft.
Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities Inc., elected new board leadership for the 2010-2011 board of directors. Those elected to leadership include: Lisa Lovallo and Sharon Bronson as co-chairs of the board and Frances McLane Merryman, secretary/treasurer. Dave Shorey has been named CEO of Westcap Solar and Charlie O’Dowd its President. Westcap Solar is a full- service residential and commercial installer of Photo Voltaic panels for electricity generation and Solar Thermal for water and pool heating. Previously, Shorey sold his interest in Arizona Capacitors, a manufacturing company in Tucson and O’Dowd served as senior vice president of The Arizona Small Business Association.
Promotions
Three team members at Keegan, Linscott & Kenon accounting firm. Rachel Naftali has been promoted to audit supervisor. She has been with the company since 2008. Adam Lohr and Anthony Villari have both been promoted to senior accountants in the firm’s Audit Department. Lohr started with KLK in 2006 as a student intern, and has proven his technical skills as he progressed through his career from intern, to staff accountant, and now to senior accountant. Villari joined the KLK team five months ago after relocating to the Tucson area from Florida.
Donna Knight was promoted to assistant director of development at the University of Arizona’s Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. Previously she was membership and events coordinator of development. Knight joined the Zuckerman College of Public Health in 2002. Prior to that, she worked in the development department at the UA Rogers College of Law for two years.
Dr. Emad Elquza has been named medical director at Arizona Cancer Center at UMC Orange Grove, 1981 W. Orange Grove Road. Elquza most recently was chief fellow in the department of hematology and oncology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, where he served a three-year fellowship.
New Hires
Debra Janusee joined First Credit Union as the human resource manager. She has more than 20 years of HR experience. Prior to joining the credit union, Janusee worked with Southwestern Eye Center at the HR director.
Dr. Steven Rayle is the new medical director for Valor HospiceCare Tucson and Green Valley. Rayle is trained in Family Medicine, and has worked as an Emergency Medicine physician for over 20 years. Rayle is spearheading the combined use of conventional complementary approaches to ensure the highest quality of hospice care.
Dina Scalone-Romero joined Cox Communications as community relations manager for Southern Arizona. Scalone-Romero will be responsible for managing charitable giving, overseeing employee volunteer participation and working to build and maintain partnerships with non-profits throughout the community. Previously, Scalone-Romero served as the executive director of Pro Neighborhoods, a collaborative organization focused on assisting and encouraging groups to build on community assets.
Mike McGuire rejoined the Long Realty team. McGuire returns to Long Realty after working at Pima Community College as the Advanced Program Coordinator for all GED testing in Pima County. McGuire is a 26-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps and says he became a real estate agent because he wanted to continue serving people.
Awards, honors, and recognitions
Natasha Bhuyan has received the 2010-2011Theodore H. Koff Graduate Scholarship from the Arizona Center on Aging at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. The scholarship is awarded to outstanding graduate students who are pursuing studies in aging, health-care administration or gerontology and health professions students with an interest in aging and gerontology.
